The Stanway u3a Chess Group is mixed ability. It was formed following a 2021 Introduction to Chess Short Course. It is open to u3a members subject to there being vacancies, so before attending you must register your interest with the Group Leader. The group meets at 9.30am on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month in the Conference Suite, upstairs in the Village Hall (there is no disabled access) of the Stanway Community Centre, Villa Road, Colchester CO3 0RH. For u3a members each session costs £3.

The u3a movement is a collection of groups (u3as) that run local and online member-led learning for those no longer in full time work. Membership fees for u3a are of the order of £12 per annum. See https://www.u3a.org.uk/

In Colchester, there is both a Colchester u3a and a Stanway u3a. Members have access to each other’s groups, subject to there being vacancies.
